The lobby is open during normal business hours.

Exam Scores:

Exam scores will be available when we receive them from New York State. The scores must then be adopted and approved on an eligible list by the Commission at its next regularly scheduled meeting. Score and rank will be mailed to candidates after the Commission adopts the list. This process can take 3-5 months.

PLEASE NOTE:

The City of Lackawanna DOES NOT maintain a general application file. A separate application (and fee) is needed for each active exam a candidate wishes to take.
- Applicants who have filed an application for a previous holding of the same exam must also apply for the current holding and may do so by sending in an updated application plus fee.

Candidates MUST provide the Civil Service Commission in writing of any changes in address or telephone number as soon as possible.
- Returned mail may result in the removal of your name from eligible lists. The Civil Service office does not accept responsibility for non-delivery or postal delay.

In regards to severe weather on exam day, unless the county or city where the examination is to be held has declared a snow or weather-related emergency and the public has been advised to stay off the roads, the examination will be conducted as scheduled.
